The Idiot
“Be foolish to wear the unexpected,” is the philosophy of THE IDIOT. The Ho Chi Minh City-based studio explores a melding of masculinity and femininity through offbeat, gender-neutral clothing that invites all to explore beyond perfection, to celebrate the beauty of differences within ourselves and our relationship with the wider world.

HEAT RESPONSE
It’s not just about materiality, but airflow too.

Cotton, linen, moisture-wicking, and more. For garments that guard against heat, we know to pay attention to breathable materials. But airflow is just as important as fabric when it comes to regulating our body’s temperature. If you want to stay cool, loose clothing beats tight every time. Associate Professor Jason Lee, Director, Heat Resilience and Performance Centre, National University of Singapore, likens the different factors to a hot day at the beach, even when temperatures rise, “When the sea breeze comes in, suddenly you feel comfortable,” he points out.

So if windbreakers exist to conserve warmth, why not the reverse to help us stay cool? THE WINDCATCHER is built to do just that — grab every breeze it can while still giving you full coverage.
Crafted by Vietnamese label The Idiot, the design offers a refreshing spin on the standard UV-proof jacket through strategically placed vents at key heat zones—the back, underarms, and chest—to enable constant air circulation for active cooling.

Versatile by design, smart enough for workday lunch breaks, and casual enough for weekend leisure. “The vented detailing on the front and back were inspired by the motion of a pendulum,” explains designer Đăng Quế Huỳnh. “I imagined it like a free, expressive dance; a release of energy that feels liberating and joyful. It’s about finding inner balance and harmony with the environment—a choice to slow down, to dress just enough, and to think more clearly.”
